About our facility:
Cubby's Canine Castle is conveniently located on DeKalb Pike (Rt. 202) in Blue Bell,
PA. Serving the area of lower Montgomery County, Cubby's is conveniently located for
those who live and/or work in Blue Bell, Norristown, Collegeville, Eagleville,
Jeffersonville, Harleysville, Lower Gwynedd, Montgomeryville, Ambler, Plymouth
Meeting, East Norriton, North Wales, Lansdale and Skippack.
Our facility consists of two buildings totaling almost 8,000 square feet, and multiple
outdoor play yards totaling 10,000 square feet!!!
Our facility has been designed to provide the maximum enjoyment for your pup as well
as safety and security. We have both indoor and outdoor play areas. Our play areas
have tents for shade, play sets for your dogs to play on, furry friends for your dog to
play with all day and are supervised by our expert staff.
Sarah, Owner and Operator
Sarah is the owner and operator of Cubby's Canine Castle. In her previous career she
worked long hours and traveled extensively, spending many days and nights on the
road. When she was working late or traveling, her pup Cubby went to daycare and had
a blast! Sarah never had to worry about Cubby since she had a great daycare she
used and always knew that Cubby was well cared for, well loved by the staff there and
most importantly, well-exercised!!! She understands your need for a daycare facility
to send your pup where they will receive the same high standard of care and
enjoyment you provide for your dog at home. She has built Cubby's Canine Castle with
that in mind.
Prior to opening Cubby's, Sarah worked at Karen's K-9 Care doggie daycare in Frazer,
PA voted Best of Philly, 2005! During her two and a half years at Karen's, she gained
hands on experience and a vast knowledge of doggie daycare operations and used
that experience to design Cubby's Canine Castle. Sarah is also a Senior Volunteer
with Brookline Labrador Retriever Rescue, responsible for evaluating dogs to bring
into the rescue and finding labs in need new homes. She is a member of the North
American Dog Daycare Association (NADDA) and is a certified Pet Care Technician
through the ABKA.
Nicole McBride, Trainer and Daycare Staff
Nicole McBride of Woofs of Wisdom training conducts all training classes for Cubby's
Canine Castle and is also a member of the daycare staff. We are extremely excited to
have Nicole on board, and once you read about her, you'll understand why!
Nicole has been working with animals professionally since 1992. She served as the
Program Director for a leading service dog organization from 1995-2002, until she
moved to Montgomery County and opened her own training business called Woofs of
Wisdom. Nicole has lots of experience with dog/dog interaction as she has 5, yes, 5
pups of her own! This includes Nick, a chocolate lab that she has trained to the level
of service dog, has served as a demonstration dog for a service dog organization and
currently provides Therapy Dog Visits at Blue Bell Place along with her rottweiler, Telly.
Nicole is Endorsed through the prestigious National Association of Dog Obedience
Instructors (Member #1083E) and has a certification in animal science. Her
professional expertise includes the following:
Nicole has also served on the Board of Directors of Brookline Labrador RetrieverRescue where she also served as the fundraising chair, shelter certification
evaluator and foster home. She formerly served as an online Dog Expert for
JustAnswer.com and was voted one of the area's "Favorite Trainers" through Greater
Philly Tails Magazine.
Karen Griffiths, Groomer
Karen has been helping keep your dogs at Cubby's clean and pretty since April, 2007.
Karen has been grooming dogs for the past 14 years. She honed her grooming skills
by training under and working for the late Debbie Fegan, a local favorite to many dogs
and their owners.
Karen has experience with all breeds of dogs. Her abilities range from the basics of
bathing to the finest details of hand scissoring. She is even capable in custom
grooming and has done the Nike emblem and Olympic rings!
Karen shares our love of dogs, having two yellow labs of her own, Abby & Mike.
Kelsey, Daycare Attendant
Kelsey joined the Cubby's team in the Fall of 2007. Kelsey is experienced working in
the dog daycare environment as she previously worked at a daycare in Philadelphia.
While not caring for Cubby's pups, she attends classes at Temple University where
she is pursuing her degree in Environmental Studies. Kelsey also has a rescued Toy
Fox Terrier named Toby as well as a rescue terrier mix named Tori.
Katy, Daycare Attendant
Katy joined the Cubby's team in the Fall of 2009 after graduating from Temple with a
Master's in Voice Performance. She grew up with large dogs including several
Bernese Mountain Dogs! Katy's love of dogs also pushed her to volunteer at her local
SPCA throughout high school, caring for the dogs and managing off leash playgroups.
When not caring for the dogs, Katy teaches voice lessons to children and performs in
various theater productions in the area. Katy currently shares her home with a cat
who thinks he's a dog!
Kelly, Daycare Attendant
Kelly joined us in the Winter of 2010 after graduating from Penn State University with a
degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science. Her family has a long history or rescuing
dogs and other animals. Kelly herself actively volunteers with a wildlife rehabilitation
center helping to care for and release rehabilitated animals. In the past she has
completed research on Ruffed Grouse and White Tail Deer, and worked as a Raptor
and Bat Technician. Kelly currently lives with 3 family dogs and her pet pigeon Stanley.
Jenn, Daycare Attendant
Jenn recently finished her studies at Arcadia University and graduated with a degree
in Fine Arts in Metals and Jewelry. She also joined the Cubby's team in the Winter of
2010 and comes to us with experience from working in a grooming salon. Jenn
handled dogs of all sizes and temperaments, many of whom were not so happy about
getting a bath! She has experience in basic grooming and currently shares her home
with a brand new kitten named Moxy!
